A Fall Day & Thoughts on Blogging

I LOVE reading other blogs and seeing their outfit posts. I've also read over and over to share on your blog what you like to read. So, here is a fall outfit for a beautiful fall day. I raided JT's closet and decided to wear this sweater. It's so cozy and I love the oversized buffalo print. He used to wear buffalo print A LOT before we were married (he outgrew that wardrobe after marriage!) so it reminds me of when we were "young" (even though we are still young, but you know what I mean, right?).

Now let's chat.

I started this blog to share my design inspiration. I've wanted to blog for a long time now, but had been scared of what people would think of me and didn't know what to do if it didn't work out. Even after blogging for a short time, I have fallen in love with it. I love the surprise factor- you never know who will read your blog or where it will take you. I love being a part of the blogging community and meeting so many creative, generous people. I love getting new readers one by one. And, I love that the direction your blog takes you is not always the direction you had in mind. Which brings me to my point. My readers like fashion posts (see here, here, and here). Fashion and interior design are very intertwined. The elements and principles are the same no matter what the medium is. Fashion just happens to be more accessible. It's easier to buy a new top then it is a new sofa. You might think about the top for maybe ten minutes and a sofa is usually a couple year thought process. Fashion Week dictates trends for interiors and you can pick out the same trending colors and patters in both interiors and fashion. Tribal patterns, pops of neon, color-blocking, animal prints, ikat, bright pink, turquoise, metallics... see what I mean? What goes around comes around. I want to provide content to my readers that is relevant and accessible to them. Since fashion and interiors do go hand-in-hand, I will continue to post about both of them, but you will be seeing more fashion posts pop up (and let's be honest, I'm really, really excited!). My goal for my fashion posts is still the same as my interior posts. I want to give women confidence. To make them feel beautiful, important. I can't do this, but I can share the love of Christ and the gifts He's blessed me with. With Him, I can also help take away their fear of sharing their gifts. Because if I can do what I do, so can you.

I'd appreciate your thoughts!

xoxo Kelsey

  2. Fabulous post. I love the blog. Keep it up, I check it everyday! It is scary to go for something you have dreamed of and not worry about failure. I try to remember that success for you/me/everyone may not be what we planned it would be. If something seems like it's not happening how we want, that might mean that God is taking it a new direction in our life. Even if the blogging takes you a different direction entirely, it is not a failure. It is a success, because you went for it, followed your dream, worked hard, and used the gifts God gave you. What a success!!
